Owning a business can be a lonely journey, especially in todays digital culture. “Can I get a amen?”
I know I’m not the only one who shuts myself in my office and uses Facebook and instagram as a means of socializing. And as amazing as it is to to connect with people online, to consume content and learn from others via the internet. As awesome as it is to live in my pajamas and truly embrace the messy hair, make-up free look, online interactions is no substitute for “in-person” experience.
A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to step away from the office and do business and connect out in the real world. I had the chance to attend The Rising Tide’s society’s Tida Talk in LA and it was such an awesome night. I am so grateful for having the chance to make new friends and catch up with old ones. And I’m beyond grateful to learn from some amazing speakers in person. It made this whole journey seem real again, It made it tangible in some ways. I can become so caught up on working in my business in the virtual sense , I feel that loose sight that it’s a real tangible thing out in the real world.
If you’ve been stuck at home in your pajamas, wearing a three day old top knot due to the slow wedding season, or simply because business is slow in general. I urge to step away from your computer, leave the editing aside for a day and go do business out in the real world. Go connect with people in real life, go learn in person. I promise it will give you renewed strength to carry on and give you an understanding that the work your doing is real.
